Fire Captain Edward Levirgil Andrews IV served the citizens of Redding as a firefighter for the Redding Fire Department.

On May 14, 2007 Captain Edwards, accompanied by his partner, was conducting physical training. During this training session Captain Edwards suffered a heart attack. His partner immediately began CPR. Captain Andrews was transported to Shasta Regional Medical Center where lifesaving efforts were continued and he was eventually pronounced deceased.

Captain Edwards is survived by his children. His son is currently a firefighter for the Redding Fire Department.
